THSC members Linda M. Graham, MSN, RN-BC, CHSE and Bill Garrison, BS, RRT, ACCS-RCP gave a presentation at THSC’s April 23rd meeting on “Building Your Own Tracheostomy Vest”. The two colleagues work at St Elizabeth Training and Educational Center in Erlanger, Kentucky. They shared how they selected (new & used) items to create a low cost, low fidelity trach vest worn by a standardized patient for a simulating suctioning or trach care experience. The vest itself is from an old mannequin. The neck visor with stoma is just that, a visor from a baseball cap with a hole in it! It was interesting to watch how all the items fit together. In January 2019 Linda and Bill were invited to present their innovative idea at IMSH 2019 conference in San Antonio, Texas. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your creativity.
