Scholarship Program Guidelines
Receiving scholarship monies is one of the benefits of consortium membership. This benefit is part of the awards program to acknowledge members for their active involvement and commitment to simulation.
Scholarship monies may be used to support scholarly simulation activities. These include the following:
- Workshop / conference fees
- Professional books and journals related to simulation.
- Tuition toward a simulation related certification exam fee.
The maximum amount of scholarship money to be awarded in a one (1) fiscal year (September 1-August 31) is $200.00 per applicant (up to maximum $1000 per year). Recipients of awards may apply for additional funding once every three years.
Scholarship Rules and Regulations
- The board may choose to limit scholarship funding based on available funds and annual budget. The Board will budget the scholarship funds for that fiscal year beginning in September of the current year.
- Any member requesting funds will be notified by email within 3-4 weeks of the scholarship award status.
- If a scholarship request is approved, the reimbursement will be processed within 2 weeks of submission of all required proof and receipts.
- All scholarship requests must be submitted to the Education Director for eligibility prior to submitting to the board.
- The board will review, select and notify recipients of award approval.
- Payment will be issued by the Treasurer following approval.
- Only members with active membership are eligible to apply. Active membership is defined as attending 4 out of 6 meeting in a fiscal year.
- All scholarship records (including all scholarship forms, check request and receipts) and monies awarded will be maintained for a minimum of three (3) years by the
- Scholarship money is reimbursement only. (See guidelines.)
- When all budgeted scholarship money has been allocated for the fiscal year, no further applications will be accepted.
- The Board may limit funds based on budget constraints for the fiscal year. The Education Director will be responsible for notifying those individuals who have submitted applications for consideration.
- All requests must follow the Scholarship Application Guidelines as described below. Scholarship funds will not be awarded until all required documentation and proof is submitted. In the case of certification, this includes proof of successful passing of the exam.
- The Board will review the Scholarship Guidelines every two (2) years.
- Any questions about an individual’s application will be resolved by the board.
GUIDELINES

- To apply for scholarship monies:
- Applicants will compose a 250-word essay answering the following questions:
- Explain how the money will be used.
- State how you have been active in the Tri-State Healthcare Simulation Consortium.
- Applicants will compose a 250-word essay answering the following questions:
- Give example how you utilize simulation in your practice.
- Describe how this educational opportunity will benefit simulation.
- Attach all documentation and requirements for the scholarship application and submit to the Education Director.
- Recipients of scholarships will share at the end of the fiscal year (July meeting) how their award furthered their simulation education.
- Any board member who applies for scholarship funds, will abstain from voting on their own application. If the Education Director applies for scholarship monies, the President will verify eligibility and submit to board.
